Kingsport, TN: Registration has opened for Create Appalachia’s new large format (giclee) printing class. The class is perfect for photographers, illustrators, and other artists who want to make large prints or run small editions of their work. It is also valuable for those who want to work in a commercial giclee print space. This comprehensive two-day class covers the fundamentals of large format printing, including techniques for preparing and printing high-quality images suitable for exhibition and sale. Registrants should already have a basic knowledge of Photoshop, including layers and masking.

Cher Cornett, workshop leader, serves as Associate Professor of Digital Media at ETSU. She is also an award-winning digital artist and photographer. Cher will present various aspects of large format printing, from file preparation to the use of specialized software and hardware. Participants will learn about color management, print resolution, and various printing materials, as well as gaining hands-on experience with Create Appalachia’s two large format Epson SureColor printers, (44” and 24”).

“Being able to print large, high-quality images helped me get my work exhibited,’ says Cher. “And some works just need to be big, but ordering large prints on archival papers can be expensive.  By doing the prints yourself, you can trim the cost per print down significantly, and have complete control over the process and the quality.”

The class will meet at Create Appalachia’s Giclee Print Lab in Kingsport. This intensive hands-on experience will be covered in 2 sessions: all day on Saturday, March 11 and in the afternoon on Sunday, March 12. Upon successful completion of this class, participants will be certified as Level-1 Giclee Print Technicians. This certification is required for all Create Appalachia members who want to print their own work in our print lab.

This class has very limited seating, so early registration is recommended. To register or for more details regarding the class, please go to https://www.createappalachia.org/programs-events/ or email katie@createappalachia.org.
