Want more attention for your business? Consider starting a podcast! Angie Hyche, Certified Professional Organizer®, offers her perspective as a first-time podcaster. Angie and her colleague Liana George recently launched their  podcast, Uncluttered: Shaping Your Heart and Home for What Matters Most, to bring attention to their businesses and their book. Learn what’s on Angie’s list of “dos” and “don’ts” and hear her current thoughts about what it takes to make the most of this popular platform.

Angie will be joined by technology whiz Garren Parkins of Deskrig, who produces Uncluttered. Garren  designed the Streaming Media Lab at Create Appalachia, where the podcast is recorded.

Bring your questions! A Q&A session will follow the main presentation. A tour of Create Appalachia’s Streaming Media Lab and a demonstration will be included.

Don’t miss this opportunity to find out what it has been like to design, produce, and deliver a podcast

Topics covered will include:

  • Choosing the right style and format for your podcast
  • Sharing your knowledge and expertise in a way that draws an audience
  • Coming up with engaging topics and guests
  • Using your podcast to enrich listeners’ lives while also promoting your business
  • Selecting the proper technology so that you’ll look and sound professional

This class is designed for small business owners interested in whether starting a podcast would help them promote their work. Beginners welcome. No experience necessary.

Instructor Bio:

Angie Hyche is an author, speaker, certified professional organizer (CPO®), and the owner of Shipshape Solutions in Kingsport, Tennessee. Her years of experience working with clients give her unique insights into both the challenges of clutter and disorganization and the freedom and peace that order can bring. Now she brings that wisdom into her writing, speaking, and podcasting. Angie’s first book, Unholy Mess: What the Bible Says about Clutter, was published on Amazon December, 2020. Her podcast with co-host Liana George, Uncluttered: Shaping Your Heart & Home for What Matters Most, was launched in January, 2023. Her goal is to help listeners and readers simplify their lives so they can focus on what’s most important and spend time doing what they love.

Garren Parkins is an entrepreneur and digital media graduate from East Tennessee State University, who is known for his contributions to streaming media technologies. A career-defining epiphany three years ago struck while he was working remotely during the pandemic. His recognition of the value of a professional online presence inspired Garren to establish  Deskrig, LLC. Driven to improve the professionalism of his own video presence, Garren embarked on an exploration of video streaming technology. Now Deskrig, which is located in Create Appalachia’s Kingsport Center for Art & Technology, is gaining great momentum in the field of streaming video solutions.. Garren’s overarching mission is to democratize the virtual commute, making it equally accessible and effective for those in home offices and corporate conference rooms alike.
