Appalachia, a multifaceted area both historically and culturally rich, is often overlooked within the broader artistic discourse. Its contemporary culture seems invisible to those outside of it. “Nourishing and Flourishing” is an expression of this contemporary strength and uniqueness through our shared foods, our shared artistic mediums, and our shared creative endeavors.
Within this exhibit, you’ll see how artists celebrate and participate in their unique Appalachian food culture. You’ll see how the term “artist” extends beyond the visual and into food and other mediums. You’ll see how artists create nurturing environments through food and artistic expression. Appalachia abounds with creativity.
“Nourishing and Flourishing” beckons you to experience the connections that exist between our sustenance, our visual expressions, and our Appalachian identity.
