Caitlin Maupin, a professional muralist whose work can be seen all over Southwest Virginia and East Tennessee, will offer her hard-earned insights into going into the mural business. This session will be an overview for artists who are considering taking on this kind of project. Caitlin will talk about her own small creative business, sharing information about her own experience and how she has achieved success.
Caitlin will discuss her process from beginning to end, including all of the behind-the-scenes work that goes into painting murals. She hopes to help change the “starving artist” narrative into one of landing opportunities and making a living. Caitlin will cover such topics as finding your first mural opportunity, pricing your work, contracting with clients, the design process, painting on a large scale, promoting your business, and much more. All levels are welcome, from beginner to seasoned artist.
This particular Arts@Work session is funded by the Tennessee Arts Commission’s Arts Build Communities program.
