CLASS DESCRIPTION: Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) is a powerful open-source streaming platform. Using OBS can be as simple or complex as you need it to be. This software allows you to stream events, including games, church services, and classes. Its crystal-clear video and customizable elements lets you adapt to your streaming to your individual needs. From scenes to transitions, this class will teach you how to connect your screen, audio, and streaming platform into OBS. OBS is also universal, which means that you can use it to stream on different platforms, including Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook Live. OBS lets you create seamless transitions between camera and screen for business presentations. You can also create “triggered” elements for your class to keep them engaged. Mastering even the basic elements of OBS will help you create a professional and interactive environment for whatever audience you serve.
This course will be interactive. Be sure to bring your questions for a Q&A after the demo!
INSTRUCTOR BIO: Fate Walker is a senior in the Digital Media Department at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) focusing on 3D character animation and the concept of motion capture animation. Fate has become a go-to advisor for other students who want to learn to use OBS to stream their games on Twitch. They are currently the concept artist for a training simulation in development for East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. Some of Fate’s work has been featured in local art shows, as well as on Walk the Moon’s and Andrew Lloyd’s Webber’s Cats Instagram pages. Fate currently teaches for Create Appalachia’s Arts@Work Youth programs, offering classes in character design and 2D animation. They plan on attending a graduate program to obtain an MFA in animation, with an ultimate goal of teaching on the college level.
This workshop is subsidized and made possible thanks to a generous grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission’s Arts Build Community program.
